Nitronox Q & A

What is Nitronox?

Nitronox is state-of-the-art nitrous oxide and oxygen analgesia system that helps you relax and reduces discomfort during aesthetic treatments. This advanced technology by Cynosure uses a mixture of 50% nitrous oxide and 50% oxygen to minimize anxiety and pain during minimally invasive procedures.

Nitronox isn’t general or local anesthesia; it’s a relaxant that helps you stay calm during your procedure. You’ll remain awake, and you can control the flow of the medication yourself. This ensures that you have the right amount of anxiety reduction to keep you relaxed, comfortable, and pain-free throughout your treatment.

Which types of treatments can be combined with Nitronox?

Minimally invasive and noninvasive aesthetic treatments use the Nitronox system. Some examples of these treatments include:

  • Body contouring and submental chin fat reduction with SculpSure®
  • Skin tightening, wrinkle reduction, and cellulite treatments with TempSure Envi
  • Vaginal tightening with TempSure Vitalia
  • Dermal fillers and other cosmetic injections

Some minimally invasive, in-office medical procedures can also include Nitronox.

How long do the effects of Nitronox last?

Nitronox takes effect quickly, within 1-2 minutes after the medication has been administered. It wears off quickly as well: Within 5-10 minutes after your last dose, it has entirely left your system. You’ll feel completely normal again right away,  and you can return to your daily activities immediately after your procedure.

Is Nitronox safe?

Nitrous oxide and oxygen have been used safely as a relaxant for medical and dental procedures for more than 100 years. During your procedure with Nitronox, you remain awake, responsive, and breathing on your own. Your experienced AMG Medical provider will provide you with all the information you need to make an informed decision about whether Nitronox is right for you.

If you’re interested in an aesthetic procedure, but you feel nervous or have concerns about discomfort, Nitronox can reduce your anxiety so you can enjoy the benefits of body contouring, skin tightening, and other treatments.
